NPO Microgen is a large manufacturer and supplier of vaccines for the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccination. This requires high quality organization of transportation and storage of medicines in the “cold chain” regime, as vaccines are highly sensitive to the temperature regimes and require the maintenance of strict temperature limits during storage and transportation. NPO Microgen’s own “cold chain” is unique for Russia and guarantees the compliance with the temperature regime during storage and transportation of vaccines and medicines produced by NPO Microgen to the end user 24 hours a day all year round.
NPO Microgen spent 42.6 million rubles to buy new heavy trucks under the “cold chain” fleet modernization program for the transportation of vaccines and other immunobiological preparations.
The relevant tender was announced late in 2013. As a result of the tender, the price for the lot was reduced by 3.5 million rubles with initial tough price conditions of the supply. The tender was awarded to Mercedes-Benz Rus, which will supply the bulk of the new “cold chain” fleet of NPO Microgen. One 4x2 refrigerated van will be supplied by Volvo Vostok.
At present, NPO Microgen’s fleet has more than 300 units with 40 of them operating in the “cold chain” regime. The company transports its products throughout Russia, the average annual run of one “cold chain” truck is 120 thousand kilometers.
